Vic Taylor Distinguished Long-Term Contribution Award

Professor Marian Baird

Marian has, without doubt, made the kind of profound, long-term contribution that this Award recognises. She is the first woman in our field to be promoted to Professor in industrial relations at the University of Sydney. Her achievements have been recognised at the highest levels of academia and beyond: Order of Australia; Fellowship of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia; named in the top 100 influential people in policy; securing several large competitive grants. She has repeatedly been a keynote speaker at major conferences in the UK and the USA and for the ILO. Marian’s work has been immensely significant for the best part of twenty years in one of the defining fields of Australasian public policy, work and family.
