AIRAANZ statement on situation in Gaza

At its Annual General Meeting held in Perth, 2nd February 2024, the Association of Industrial Relations Academics of Australia and New Zealand (AIRAANZ) unanimously resolved to express its utmost concern with the impact of war on working people and communities in Gaza. AIRAANZ joins governments, civil society organisations and trade unions worldwide - including the International Trade Union Confederation, Australian Council of Trade Unions, New Zealand Council of Trade Unions, and National Tertiary Education Union (Australia) - in calling for an immediate ceasefire by all parties and the return of all hostages. We call for a lasting peace that places human and workers’ rights first and foremost. This includes rebuilding health, cultural and educational institutions and other vital infrastructure necessary to support those living in Gaza with economic development and decent work.
