AIRAANZ Statement on the situation in Iran

At its Annual General Meeting held in Sydney, 30 January 2026, the Association of Industrial Relations Academics of Australia and New Zealand (AIRAANZ) unanimously resolved to express its utmost concern with the impact of the repression in response to protests in the Islamic Republic of Iran in December and January 2025/6 and the effect on working people and communities. AIRAANZ joins governments, civil society organisations and trade unions worldwide - including the Australian and New Zealand Governments and International Trade Union Confederation – and calls for the cessation of the violation of workers economic and social rights and calls for scrutiny and action in support of workers’ and citizens’ fundamental labour rights.
